The Gauteng Accelerator Programme – Biosciences seeks to nurture business ideas and develop business proficiencies for individuals in selected teams from South Africa with emphasis in Gauteng. These teams would constitute graduates, academics, bio-entrepreneurs, and researchers in the Biosciences and related fields. Typically, these individuals in their teams would possess the technical expertise to perform the required technical development, but lack the necessary business, legal, and intellectual property skills to take their technologies to the market.
This yearlong programme, designed and developed to foster the creation of Biosciences-focused companies in Gauteng, will be run annually. It will provide participants with business development skills they need in order to advance their Biosciences technologies to stages of commercial viability and make them attractive to investors.
The aim is ultimately to establish Biosciences-based companies that will provide solutions for social issues whilst being profitable, and encouraging and contributing to the economic growth of Gauteng. For investors, this is a professional platform on which they can be exposed to, and interact with, teams presenting attractive opportunities in which they can invest.
